Learning Outside Together
LOT: Learning Outside Together, Incorporating traditional wisdom and promising practices to futureproof child care programs
Developed for Early Childhood Educators (ECEs), the LOT participant program supports participants to develop the knowledge and skills needed to increase children’s time and meaningful experiences outdoors, including Indigenous ways of knowing, learning, and land as teacher. Participants meet weekly online with a small group of ECEs from across the province of BC, supported by a peer mentor (who is a LOT graduate). In addition to receiving a professional development certificate, you will be connected to a growing community of enthusiastic child care professionals who value bringing children into nature. Please note: this program is currently free of charge.

The LOT program has been developed and guided by our amazing partners and Steering Committee, including Indigenous and non-Indigenous early childhood educators, Elders, and other experts.
"Before starting the program, I was feeling uninspired, drained, unmotivated, and trying to decide if I wanted to stay in the ECE field. By the end of the program, I was so inspired, ready to make changes and excited to be in the ECE field."
"LOT taught me lots of things. I am more brave, confident, passionate and understanding of all the things around me."
"I now walk through nature not only with heightened attention and awareness but also with questions and curiosity."
"I now walk outside with a new-found set of eyes."
